Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with the U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden.
In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed current situation in Ukraine.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, “restoration and reforming of the whole vertical of executive authority” today takes place in our country.
“We intend to renovate the entire system of power institutions, as well as relations between the citizen and the state stage by stage,” he said, having stressed that special attention is attached to decentralization of power and granting regions with a greater independence and the opportunity to “independently appoint their leaders and administrate budget.”
The Parties have focused separate attention on the issue of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
Chairman of the Parliament stressed that the majority of citizens of our country “stands for the single, integral, unitary and democratic Ukraine with due consideration of increasing and broadening rights of the regions.”
“Ukrainians are ready to protect their country against military aggression of the Russian Federation,” he stressed.
Oleksandr Turchynov has emphasized also that the authority attaches special attention to holding of “fair and transparent presidential elections.”
In the course of discussing consequences of Geneva negotiations, Oleksandr Turchynov noted that “unfortunately, neither the Russian Federation, nor its terrorist subdivisions located in Ukraine, demonstratively do not intend to fulfill agreements reached in Geneva.”
He said that instead of disarmament and liberating administrative buildings, terrorists have once again seized the building of City Department of Internal Affairs in Kramatorsk and took hostage of militia chief, “having thus broken all agreements reached in Geneva.”
“Undoubtedly, under these conditions, the Ukrainian authority will act adequately,” emphasized Oleksandr Turchynov.
In his turn, Joseph Biden stressed that the USA welcomes and supports changes in Ukraine and is ready to assist us in every possible way.
