Present developments in Ukraine are Putin’s nightmare. This was announced by Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on Wednesday during a TV programme “Shuster LIVE”.
Oleksandr Turchynov explained that Ukrainians have shown the world that “Ukrainian people have decided that way towards Europe is their choice”. “Ukrainian people change authorities by themselves. This example for Russia is the worst Putin’s nightmare”, he said. Thus, he added, the Russian government needs to destabilize situation in Ukraine “to show how bad it is there”.
“Stable government, stable and prosperous Ukraine is a verdict for Putin”, claimed Oleksandr Turchynov, stressing that it is exactly why Russia is nurturing plans of invading Ukraine.
Answering questions, Oleksandr Turchynov also stated that presidential elections in Ukraine are another step to stabilizing the situation, and so “it is their (Russia’s) task to disrupt the elections and show absence of legitimate authorities in Ukraine”.
In this context, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada claimed the Ukrainian government will do everything for ensuring democratic, transparent and fair elections where every citizen will have a chance to elect such candidates that will represent their interests.
Oleksandr Turchynov claimed that any attempts to disrupt elections will be shot down in flames.
