Banking system is the cornerstone and foundation of economy. That is why regaining of trust in Ukrainian banks and hryvnia are the guarantee of renewal of the whole economy and development of our country.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stressed
this on Wednesday, when presenting a new Head - Stepan Kubiv - to the team of
the National Bank of Ukraine.
“Chairman of the Parliament stressed that “the National Bank is the core of the whole banking system. It is the main regulator and emission center.” “Quick overcoming of the crisis and full stabilization of the situation in the state will depend on the wise and well-thought policy of the National Bank,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, noting that “that is why one of the first decisions of the Verkhovna Rada was appointment of the Head of the National Bank.”
Oleksandr Turchynov deems that the National Bank has always operated quite professionally, and the “Yanukovych-Azarov government would have long ago crossed the limit of default, if not “backed up” by the National Bank.” However, the gold and foreign currency reserves of the state have halved, which is a negative consequence of such a policy.
The Chairman of the Parliament named regaining of trust in the country’s
banking system, establishment of economic conditions for doing business, as
well as fair and transparent rules of financial market operation to be the top
priority tasks of the Parliament. He believes this will help regain the trust
of investors and attract respective resources. Oleksandr Turchynov is convinced
that illegal
outflow of financial resources from Ukraine should be stopped and
national currency rate should be stabilized.
“These tasks should be performed immediately. This is one of the top priorities of the new leadership of the National Bank of Ukraine,” he claimed.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also called on the NBU leadership to establish total financial monitoring. “There should be no shadow conversion centers that would operate under the cover of a new authority,” stressed Oleksandr Turchynov.
Speaking on formation of a new Government, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada named its priority tasks to be overcoming of economic crisis, restoration of economy and of all social programmes, as well as establishment of conditions for better development of our country. “Without development we cannot be normally perceived by the international community and the European integration will then be merely a proclaimed slogan, and not a reality,” he summed.
