Press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informs that as of February 18, 2014, there are no registered draft resolutions on ways of returning to the Constitution of Ukraine of 2004 in the Parliament’s Secretariat.
According to the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada, submission of legislative acts on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine is clearly regulated by article 154 of chapter 13 of the Constitution of Ukraine. This article of the Basic Law stipulates that the subject of legislative initiative on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine should constitute not less than 150 people’s deputies of Ukraine, signatures of which should be affixed under these documents.
Draft resolutions submitted for registration by the opposition representatives were not upheld by a sufficient number of people’s deputies, so, according to chapter two of article 90 of the Rules of Procedure, they can not be registered.
