As it was mentioned during the Committee meeting (December 18, 2013), the city is an administrative centre of Novhorod-Siverskyi region, situated in the north of Chernihiv Oblast.
It was stressed that referring the city to the category of cities of oblast significance will increase city’s budget revenues, ensure financial and economic independence of local authorities, as well as increase investment attractiveness of the city.
Following the results of the discussion, the decision was adopted to uphold the respective request of Chernihiv Oblast council, and to instruct the Committee’s members to develop and submit for consideration of the Verkhovna Rada the respective draft resolution and recommend that the Parliament adopt it as a basis and in entirety.
