In the course of discussion of the bill (Reg. No. 1115), people’s deputies drew attention to the fact that it was refined with consideration of remarks of the Central Scientific Experts Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat and the opinion of the Committee on the Rule of Law and Justice.
Thus, the bill suggests supplement the list of professional rights of
lawyers with the right to wear a special outfit – the lawyers’ toga, during
the court session. Apart form this, it is proposed that the Council of Lawyers
of Ukraine approves the sample of the lawyers’ toga.
Parliament members stressed that the list of authorities of the Council of Lawyers of Ukraine, detrained by article 55 of the Law “On Bar and Advocacy”, does not in full determine the list of powers of this body.
