This year marks 80th anniversary of the most tragic pages of history of the Ukrainian people in the first half of the XX century – the Holodomor of 1932-1933.
It was stressed that in view of proper commemoration of victims of the terrible tragedy the unique center – the National Museum “Holodomor Victims Memorial” was established. Thousands of Ukrainians and all foreign delegations constantly visit it.
Thereat, people’s deputies noted that despite “high status and extraordinary significance for the Ukrainians across the world, the Museum is not in full financed from the state budget. It lacks funds even for payment of salary, which is much lower than that of the majority of employees of national cultural establishments.”
Committee members drew attention to the fact “in view of lack of funds, the Museum was forced to introduce entrance fee, which, the Committee believes, is inadmissible and should be urgently abolished.”
