In his speech during the workshop, Viktor Chumak focused attention on cooperation of the Ukrainian Parliament with civil society in order to prevent corruption. He provided information on the work of the Civil Experts Council at the Committee, the activity of Ukrainian national department of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) and on cooperation of the Committee with NGOs when carrying out anti-corruption expertise of the bills.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee stressed that “It is due to coordination of actions with civil society and civil anti-corruption activists and due to anti-corruption requirements on the part of the European Union that Ukraine managed to renovate anti-corruption legislation.”
Participants of the event exchanged experience in the sphere of legislative settlement of the conflict of interests, deputy immunity and financing of political parties. The role of parliamentary financial control and cooperation of parliaments with civil society in order to fight corruption were also discussed.
