The Ukrainian Party was represented by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and the Committee’s member Volodymyr Ariev. Hungarian delegation was headed by the Committee Chair Mihaly Balla. Deputy Chairman Gabor Tamas Nagy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hungarian Republic to Ukraine Michael Baer and Consul General of the Hungarian Consulate in Uzhhorod Joseph Bacskai were also present at the meeting.
Welcoming Hungarian colleagues, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko stressed that the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada upholds and makes every effort to sign the Association Agreement with the EU and the Free Trade Zone. The Committee will, under all conditions, promote broadening of cooperation between our countries. He suggested also that the Parties exchange programs of humanitarian cooperation for the next year.
“The Ukrainian Party highly appreciates position of Hungary within the EU-Ukraine Energy Charter,” noted Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and called on his Hungarian colleagues to continue support Ukraine in this issue. “Any support on the part of the Parliament and Government of Hungary in terms of energy cooperation is extremely important,” stressed the people’s deputy.
Mihaly Balla stressed the necessity to develop bilateral cooperation. He noted the importance of humanitarian sphere, agriculture and energy sector.
Attention was attached to the issue of opening the Honorary Consulate of Hungary in Ivano-Frankivsk. On behalf of the Committee, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko promised Hungarian colleagues to assist in settlement of this issue.
Volodymyr Ariev expressed hope for promotion of the issue of visa free regime for the citizens of Ukraine with the EU countries on the part of Hungary.
At the end of the meeting, Mihaly Balla invited members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee to pay a visit to the Hungarian Republic.
