To the veterans of the Great Patriotic War,
all citizens of the Hero City Kyiv
Dear friends!
Every country has dates that are both painful and prideful for millions of people – representatives of different generations and nationalities. November 6 is such date – the day of liberation from fascist invaders of one of the oldest and the most beautiful cities of the world, our favourite capital which went through hardships of the Great Patriotic War.
This day, 70 years ago, red flags were displayed. Ruined, vandalized by invaders but unbroken, Kyiv celebrated its liberation.
Today we bow low over graves of the deceased soldiers and civilians and honour the heroes of liberation and post-war revival of the city. We sincerely thank you, those who fought for Kyiv - you made superhuman efforts defending human honour and dignity, fighting for independence of our Homeland.
Dear veterans! Although your hair went grey and illnesses bother you, and old war wounds increasingly remind you of themselves, you pass on your experience to the youth. I am sure that this honorary baton will never end, and you will always be an example of devotion to Ukraine and its people.
I wish all the city liberators and those who multiply its glory good health, longevity and new achievements for the benefit of the Homeland. Let the peace and the good rule on our blessed land for ever!
I wish the Hero City Kyiv peaceful sky and prosperous future!
