The Committee on Science and Education recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re prohibition of funding higher education institutions through donations of persons studying there

According to the author of the bill Mykola Tomenko, the main aim of the bill (Reg. No. 1082) is to prevent illegal extortion of money under the guise of “donations” from students and other people studying in higher education institutions.

The bill also suggests prohibit funding higher education institutions by donations, charitable gifts, presents or financial assistance from persons studying at that higher education institutions.

The Committee members also noted that the implementation of bill’s provisions will promote reduction of corruption offences in higher education institutions and increasing of higher education institutions prestige in the society and among students.
