Particularly, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law “On Ratification of the Convention between Government of Ukraine and Government the Republic of Cyprus on Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasions with respect to income tax and its Protocol”, which the Committee members supported with the majority of votes and recommended to adopt in entirety (Reg. No. of the respective bill 0024).
The Convention and Protocol, signed on November 8, 2012 in Nicosia, aim at establishing effective bilateral contractual basis for avoiding double taxation and preventing tax avoidance in regard to tax on income in relationships between Ukraine and the Republic of Cyprus. On the moment the Convention comes into force, the Agreement between Government of USSR and Government of the Republic of Cyprus on Avoidance of taxation on income and property, signed in 29/10/1982 is terminated.
Particularly, the Convention applies to persons that are residents of one or both Contracting States.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law “On ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on amendment of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Community on visa process simplification”, which the Committee recommended to adopt by the Parliament in entirety (Reg. No. of the respective bill 0015).
The Agreement signed on July 23, 2012 in Brussels.
The Agreement extends the categories of Ukrainian citizens entitled to simplified procedure of free multi visas: participants of official exchange programs; members of technical support, religious communities, professional unions; participants of official EU programs of transborder cooperation etc.
The Committee held the Committee hearings entitled “Visa free regime between Ukraine and the EU: prospects and new opportunities for the citizens of Ukraine”.
A range of conferences, seminars and round table discussions were held by the Committee.
Particularly, the international conference “Social dimension of European integration of Ukraine: on the way to new legislative initiatives and strengthening of the EU-Ukraine cooperation” was held.
Members of Parliaments, representatives of executive power and experts for Ukraine and the EU took part.
The issues of place of Ukraine in the process of European integration were discussed.
The Committee also held international conference “Trade migration as social dimension of European integration (in the East Partnership countries)”.
People’s deputies and experts from the East Partnership countries, representatives of state power bodies of Ukraine, international organizations, diplomatic body participated in the event.
Jointly with the Inter-faction Union “Equal Opportunities” the Committee held round table discussion entitled: “Challenges and risks of restricting reproductive rights of women in Ukraine.”
The participants of the round table discussion discussed the draft laws: No.2646 “On amendments to the Criminal code of Ukraine re liability for illegal interruption of pregnancy”, Reg. No. 2646-1 “On amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine (abortion ban)” and Reg. No. 2823 “On advertising” (re regulation of certain issues of advertising).
The issues regarding legislative initiatives on abortion and restrictions of contraception advertising, reproductive health and risks of such legislative initiatives, myths and realities of demographic indicators of reproductive health in Ukraine were considered.
