The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Viktor Razvadovskyi conveyed greetings from the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak and the Committee Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn to the members of the Russian delegation.
V.Razvadovskyi told about the activity of the Committee in the sphere of legislative support of state’s security and defense.
Head of the Russian Delegation V.Ozerov noted that the aim of senators’ visit is to study the work experience of Ukrainian law-makers. “The issue of legislative support of military construction and the whole military organization of the state is important for us. We started working under equal conditions; we have passed through the respective stages; there was success and there were measures taken that did not give the desired result,” noted Russian MP.
Assessing the level of cooperation between the specialized parliamentary committees of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, V.Ozerov admitted that not everything was done to make such cooperation really fruitful and mutually beneficial. He expressed hope that in the future it will be possible to establish more close relations.
The Chairman of the Russian Federation outlined issues that Russian law-makers are concerned with. Primarily, they are connected with social conditions of military men of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, as well as members of their families.
The Chairman of the subcommittee Yu.Samoilenko noted that settlement of a number of issues of common interest depends on legislative bodies.
The people’s deputy I.Pober noted that there is mutual understanding in the Committee between the people’s deputies-members of the Committee in the issues pertaining to state’s security and defense.
Participants of the meeting expressed readiness to participate in preparation of the necessary bills aimed at legislative support of security and defense sector of both states. Suggestions were made to exchange committees’ work plans.
