The meeting was held at the request of the American Party. Oleh Bilorus informed the foreign visitors and diplomats on the current political situation in Ukraine, highly appreciated the relations between Ukraine and the United States of America, and expressed his hopes that the parliamentary liaison would foster mutually beneficial inter-parliamentary cooperation on the political, economic and humanitarian levels.
Ambassador John O'Keefe briefed on the program of the Open World Leadership Center under the U.S. Congress. He stated that the program fostered mutual understanding and cooperation between Ukraine and the United States, giving the possibility for the Ukrainian leaders in different branches to meet the American colleagues and exchange the experience and ideas on the essential issues.
According to John O'Keefe, the Open World program is targeted at the leaders of Ukraine from all levels of government, academic communities, non-governmental organizations and business sector. "Open World recruits delegates who are relatively young, but are already recognized as professionals and leaders, and are interested in the study of the American experience, and support of professional and personal connections with the American colleagues upon the return to Ukraine."
The participants of the meeting focused on the themes of the Open World program. John O'Keefe stressed that the programs of the visits were drawn up with the account for the interests and requests of the participants.
O.Bilorus declared that this program would give impetus to the Ukrainian-American cooperation, and enhance partnership with other countries.
