Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, denies that a Special Law is needed to protect the Rights of the Opposition

At the briefing in the Parliament, V.Lytvyn stated that adoption of such a law would be unreasonable. "To adopt the Law on the Opposition will be similar to setting up a choir in the opera house, as no country has a law on the opposition," he claimed.

According to the Head of the Parliament, civilized countries "understand that all factions and parliament members are public representatives who must have the right to raise the pressing issues."

V.Lytvyn also stated that "parliament is a democratic tradition, so the minority representatives should have one day to suggest their bills for scrutiny."

According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the authorities should follow the principle "think about the opposition, when you are in power, because this life changes fast."
