The Committee members call for
setting up an Interim Inquiry Panel, as the children with phenylketonuria
(a serious hereditary disease damaging the nervous system) require
state support. On the average, 50 children with phenylketonuria
are annually born in Ukraine.
These children need special food, which is not produced in Ukraine, and, therefore, is
expensive. The state took the responsibility for providing the children with phenylketonuria with special food, the authors of the
resolution stated.
The People´s Deputies stressed that the reports of the Ministry of Public Health of Ukraine failed to adequately cover the situation with the government purchase of special food. The panel should present the report at the plenary meeting of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine within three months since the adoption of the draft resolution (Reg. No. 6699).
