On Monday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Ms Tsetska Tsacheva, Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.

 

Mr V.Lytvyn stated that Ukraine "highly appreciates bilateral relations." The Head of the Parliament called for boosting Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations, making them systematic. In this light, he attached great importance to the official visit of Ms Tsetska Tsacheva.

 

Ms T. Tsacheva stated that bilateral relations could be intensified, as Ukraine and Bulgaria shared the long-lasting traditions of friendship and partnership.

 

The Parties called for developing the parliamentary dimension of the bilateral relations between the factions, committees and commissions.  

 

The Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria believes that both states have a great potential for economic cooperation, esp. growth of the bilateral trade. Mr V.Lytvyn stated that parliamentary groups of friendship could play a key role in the development of relations.

 

Mr V.Lytvyn deems necessary to develop humanitarian dimension of bilateral relations.

 

Ms T. Tsacheva expressed her gratitude to the leaders of Ukraine and The Verkhovna Rada for the support of Bulgarian diaspora in Ukraine. She appreciated the fact that Bulgarians in Ukraine have a possibility to preserve national and cultural identity.   

 

The Parties discussed the prospects of the European integration of Ukraine. Ms T. Tsacheva declared the willingness of Bulgaria to share its experience of integration into the European institutions, esp. adjustment of the national legislation to the European standards.  

 

Mr V.Lytvyn and Ms T. Tsacheva highly appreciated the level of bilateral cooperation in the international organizations, esp. within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament, and the Eastern Partnership. They called for boosting international cooperation.

 

"There are all the prerequisites for impressive results of bilateral cooperation," Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated.
