Mass media has recently published the information that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate has allegedly spent UAH 35 million for the repairs of the session hall.
The Press Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariate disapproves of the incompetent attitude of some journalists to the coverage of this issue, and refutes this false information. As reported, the scheduled repairs organized by the Administrative Premises Department were performed only by the technical workers of the Department. This Department also purchased the materials for UAH 106,3 thousand.
As to The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, only UAH 6 million out of total capital costs envisaged by the State Budget for 2010 were allotted in the end of August. The total sum was appropriated to cover the arrears in capital construction for 2008.
We address the mass media with a request to treat their professional obligations more thoroughly, which presupposes use of verified information, not rumours.
