Greetings of the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Employees of the Coal Mining Sector on the Occasion of their Occupational Holiday - the Coal Miners Day, and the 75th Anniversary of Stakhanovism
I send my sincere greetings to the coal-miners, veterans of the branch and all workers of the coal-mining sector on the occasion of the occupational holiday - the Coal Miners Day, and the 75th anniversary of the mass worker´s movement Stakhanovism.
Coal mining industry is the energy foundation of the national economy, the guarantee of its stability and an essential constituent of the national security of the State. The coal mining industry determines efficiency of the work of the fuel and energy and metallurgical complexes, chemical enterprises and successful work of the public utility branch.
We have to bow low to the coal miners who draw record-breaking tons of coal, being underpaid for their hard and dangerous work, though guided by their civil duty, inspired by consciousness, demonstrating critical courage, brevity and competence.
Now that the national economy displays positive tendencies, the state shall provide the coal miners with the guarantees that the prestige of their occupation will be restored.
It is of utter importance now, when the country faces new large-scale challenges and needs responsible, moral and initiative people. It is today that Stakhanovism, one of the most memorable chapters of our history, should be mentioned.
Its 75th anniversary confirms the truth: the destiny of one person can alter the time and influence coming generations, setting an inspiring example for the fellow citizens. Celebration of the 75th anniversary of the coal mining record of O.Stakhanov and the mass movement of his followers proves that we have not fallen into the historical oblivion.
The pride for the great achievements of the predecessors, the feeling of personal involvement in the growth of labour glory of our Motherland should serve as a moral incentive and a guide for the coming generations. A new development paradigm envisages large-scale and ambitious plans, such as enhancement of competitive ability of coal production, technical and technological re-equipment of the sector, establishment of welcoming business climate.
Implementation of these plans will restore public confidence that honest and ardent work can bring happiness and contribute to the history of the Motherland.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine shall exert every effort to ensure legislative support of the coal mining sector. Implementation of applicable laws shall secure decent wages of the coal miners and comfortable conditions of work; increase the prestige of this occupation and settle the social and environmental problems of the coal mining regions.
I believe that a new generation of coal miners, followers of Stakhanov, will successfully develop a prospering Ukraine as a glaring example of stable democracy and public welfare.
On the occasion of your occupational holiday, I express my sincere gratitude to the personnel, veterans and innovators of the industry, to all those who enrich and multiply coal mining traditions and make an invaluable contribution into the development of the fuel and energy complex and the national economy.
I wish all the best to you and your families.
