Despite the terrorist attacks of russia, the state is taking all measures to ensure the speedy humanitarian demining of agricultural land and food security of the country, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy informs.

Thus, according to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, 40% of agricultural land on the liberated right bank of the Kherson region is currently demined, which is 206,000 hectares. Every day, more than a thousand sappers work to clear the land of mines in Kherson region. Over the year, the number of specialised technicians involved has increased 10-fold. Each community independently determines the priority of humanitarian demining. But first of all, they clear the land where farmers are ready to start working. More than 90% of the demined land is immediately cultivated.

Thanks to the demining work already done, farmers in Kherson region have started sowing barley, peas and flax. This year, the total area under crops is expected to reach 153,000 hectares. The sown winter crops include spring grains, legumes and industrial crops, as well as watermelons, melons and vegetables.

It is noted that the projected areas are three times higher than last year. This was made possible by intensive mine clearance of the fields.

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Economy, the number of mine action operators has increased to ensure further humanitarian demining in Ukraine. Currently, 33 operators have already been certified. More than 50 more are to be certified. The increase in operators will promote competition in the market and reduce the price of demining, which is also important in the context of launching a humanitarian demining market.

It is noted that tenders for demining will be announced through Prozorro. The farmer will pay 20% of the cost, and the state will pay the remaining 80%. The operator who offers the lowest price and meets the requirements will win. This programme will be launched in April. The methodology for determining the cost of humanitarian demining is currently being finalised.
