Since the beginning of his foundation's work in Ukraine at the beginning of the great war, Howard Buffett has already invested more than half a billion dollars in Ukraine, in particular in supporting farmers with equipment and humanitarian demining, the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy informs.
Thus, the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, in partnership with the international agricultural company Corteva Agriscience, has provided about 40,000 sowing units of Pioneer corn and sunflower seeds to small Ukrainian farmers.
According to Corteva Agriscience, the seeds were delivered to farmers in 12 regions: Dnipro, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions.
About 850 farms received seeds that will allow them to plant an additional 65,000 hectares of corn and sunflower during the spring 2024 sowing campaign, which will positively impact the living standards of the local population and support agriculture in the regions.
Corteva Agriscience is constantly working side by side with farmers and is well aware of the problems they face during a full-scale war and the challenges they have to overcome. The company is doing everything it can to help farmers effectively cope with these challenges, improve the financial stability of their farms and ensure the country's food security.
