The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education has recommended that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine give 30 days for preparation of repeat first reading of the draft law No. 3491 "On education" (adapted).
The decision was passed at the extended meeting of the Committee on January 27. Apart from people's deputies, the participants in the meeting were scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, heads of departments of education from local self-government bodies, heads of pre-school, general education, out-of-school, vocational and higher education establishments, and public experts.
At the same time, according to Chairperson of the Committee Liliya Hrynevych, the draft law should give clear answers to the challenges in the field of refinancing of general secondary education.
She also said that a major task at the stage of the adaptation of the law is to let the society understand and accept the prospects to be opened by the education reform and to envision the mechanism for its implementation.
At the extended meeting on January 27, the Committee members also heard the draft resolution on holding parliamentary hearings entitled "Legislating of the development of the national innovative system: status and solutions" in June 2016.
