“On 4 April 1949, the North Atlantic Treaty on a defence, military and political alliance was signed in Washington.
Ukraine has also made its Euro-Atlantic choice. In the face of russian aggression, the Alliance has become the only effective guarantee of security in the region. We hope that the Washington Summit will bring Ukraine closer to our Euro-Atlantic goal.
For Ukraine, membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is one of the strategic goals of our security policy. Ukraine's accession to NATO will expand the boundaries of the free world and return lasting peace to the entire planet.
Today, we are consistent in our aspirations to join NATO and are the only candidate for membership in the history of the Alliance that has proven its compliance with NATO standards on the battlefield against the russian aggressor.
I sincerely congratulate all Allies on this holiday, thank them for their support and assistance to Ukraine, and I believe that the next birthday of the Alliance will be with Ukraine's full participation in NATO,” said Oleksandr Zavitnevych, the Chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, in his greetings.
