On 3 April 2024, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko held a videoconference meeting with the Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of the Argentine Republic Fernando Adolfo Iglesias and the Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs of the Senate of the National Congress of the Argentine Republic Francisco Manuel Paoltroni.
The meeting was attended by the Committee member Natalia Loktionova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Argentina Yurii Klymenko.
The participants of the meeting discussed topical issues of world politics and international security, the current security and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, financial, economic and military-technical assistance to Ukraine, the use of frozen assets of the russian federation for the recovery of the Ukrainian economy, strengthening of political dialogue and enhancing of interparliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Argentina.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to discussing future bilateral events and the establishment of a group of friendship with Ukraine in both chambers of the National Congress of Argentina.
The Chairman of the Committee, Oleksandr Merezhko, called on his Argentine colleagues to support the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and to recognise the Holodomor of 1932-1932 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
