The delegation of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU welcomes the adoption by the Conference of the Committees on European Affairs of the European Union Member States and on European Integration of the Partner and Candidate Countries (COSAC) of the final document expressing support for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian issue was included in this document on the initiative of Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU. The Ukrainian delegation worked closely with the conference participants to ensure that the condemnation of russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine in the document was as strong as possible and the proposed mechanisms to support Ukraine were as comprehensive as possible. “I am grateful to all the chairs and members of the various committee delegations who supported this initiative. As always, such final documents are the result of a compromise, so not everyone is happy with the final wording. But what is important is that the document expresses strong support for Ukraine and that this document was eventually adopted,” said Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze.

The final declaration of COSAC, in particular, states that it is necessary to bring the russian leadership and its accomplices to full responsibility for the aggressive war against Ukraine, as well as for the huge damage caused to Ukraine by the war. Full support is expressed for the investigations of the International Criminal Court in Ukraine and other initiatives aimed at preventing impunity for russian crimes, support for the establishment of an international criminal tribunal to address the crime of russian aggression against Ukraine and determine the future compensation mechanism.

COSAC members call on the European Union and its members to continue to provide strong political, diplomatic, economic, military, technical and humanitarian support to Ukraine and its people for as long as necessary to end russia's war and restore Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In addition, COSAC supports the continuation of military assistance to Ukraine, both through bilateral cooperation and the European Peace Fund, including by accelerating the delivery of missiles and ammunition to protect the Ukrainian people and Ukraine's critical and energy infrastructure.
