On 29 February 2024, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko met with Government Commissioner of the Republic of Poland for Reconstruction of Ukraine Pawel Kowal.

The main issues discussed were the current security and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, developments on the Ukrainian-Polish border, possible ways to resolve and remove the blockade of the border by protesters, countering russian propaganda, strengthening military and technical assistance to Ukraine, development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and increasing the contribution of partners to the development of the Ukrainian air force, as well as the use of frozen assets of the russian federation to restore the economy and infrastructure of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Committee Chairman Oleksandr Merezhko stressed the importance of supporting Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration on the eve of the NATO Washington Summit and advocating among partner states for a negotiated framework for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

Special attention was paid to ways of strengthening the Ukrainian-Polish political dialogue, developing cooperation within the framework of the Three Seas Initiative and the Lublin Triangle platform, as well as enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
