The Agreement (Reg. No.0011) defines the instruments and procedures for the readmission and transfer of persons, residing illegally within the Member States Signatories of this Agreement. It lays down effective procedures for identification and the safe and organised return of persons who no longer fulfill the set conditions for entry into, and presence in the territory of, Ukraine and one of The European Union Member States.
The provisions of this Agreement establish the commitments of its Parties to readmit, without further formalities, its own Nationals who no longer fulfill the conditions in force for presence in the territory of the other Party to the Agreement, and Third-country Nationals, provided that the evidence, as envisaged by this Agreement, is available. The use of provisions related to the readmission of Third-country Nationals or Stateless persons, for a category of which Ukraine has not concluded Bilateral Treaties or Agreements on readmission, is deferred until two years from the date that the Agreement enters into force.
The realization of this Agreement will boost Euro-integration processes and improve the control of migration flows in Europe, and strengthen International cooperation in order to combat more effectively illegal migration and organised criminal groups engaged in this activity.
