The Proposals by The President of Ukraine (Reg, No.0860) recommend that the definitions of terms used in Home Winegrowing and Winemaking are clarified, with several important provisions worded in a more specific manner.
The President of Ukraine is opposed to the exclusion from this Law's domain of the regulation of alcoholic beverages, such as Vermouth and Brandy, made from grapes, and the provision banning the use of the words 'Cognac' and 'Champagne' in the generic and specific names of alcoholic beverages which do not meet the requirements for use of the terms 'Cognac of Ukraine' and 'Champagne of Ukraine'.
The President of Ukraine considers that exclusion of the Clause 'Alcoholic Beverages made from Grapes' from the Law will lead to an unregulated status of the relevant matters, and create conditions for an appearance in the Ukrainian market of adulterated alcoholic beverages.
