Adam Martyniuk, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited Ivano-Frankivsk region on 19 July during his working visit to the western regions of Ukraine.

During his stay in Ivano-Frankivsk, A.Martyniuk had meetings with the community, gave interviews to the local mass media, appeared on the regional television, and held a press conference for the journalists.

A.Martyniuk spoke negatively on the idea of establishing the two-chamber parliament in Ukraine. The second chamber is expected to represent the regions and its members will be presented mostly by the heads of State regional administrations, appointed by the President of Ukraine. A.Martyniuk is convinced that this will constitute a profound administrative resource that will interfere with normal activity of the legislative body and, therefore, endanger the State unitarity.

At the meeting with the local mass media, A.I.Martyniuk answered the numerous questions concerning social and economic development of Ukraine and Ivano-Frankivsk region, future actions of the Government towards increase of the level of people´s life.

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada A.I. Martyniuk will make a working visit to Ternopil region on 20 July.
