During the consideration the Committee members emphasized the importance of such Resolution and called for adoption of the relative law by the parliaments of all the OSCE participating States.

The Resolution underlines significance of the Conference held on 22-23 February 2007 in Oslo, where the participating States assumed commitments to conclude till 2008 an international agreement with obligatory legal effect on the prohibition of the cassette bombs.

The Parliamentary Assembly draws special attention to the grave humanitarian consequences and tremendous loss inflicted by exploitation of such weapon against the civilian, as it happened during the war in Lebanon in 2006.

The OSCE parliament members acknowledge the danger that the unexploded shells represent for people and, especially, for children, as they resemble toys.

The Parliamentary Assembly calls on the OSCE participating States for adoption of the legislation concerning prohibition of exploitation, production, transfer and accumulation of cassette ammunition, exploitation of which has grave consequences for the civilian. PA also calls for promoting the worldwide campaign and process that can lead to prohibition of the cassette bombs on the international level.
