ON FRIDAY 23 NOVEMBER, A CEREMONIAL MEETING THE VERKHOVNA RADA WAS HELD TO FULFIL THE OATH TAKING BY THE NEWLY-ELECTED DEPUTIES OF UKRAINE
Attending the Ceremonial Meeting were the Presidents of Ukraine, Chairmen of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of preceding Convocations, Members of the Cabinet of Ministers led by the Prime-Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Chairman and Members of the Constitutional Court, Chairman of the Central Election Committee, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Chairman of the Court of Audit, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomic Republic of Crimea, Chairmen of Regional and Sevastopol City Councils, Heads of the Regional State Administrations, and Representatives of Religious confessions, The Diplomatic Corps and the Media.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 5th Convocation Olexander Moroz welcomed the newly-elected People's Deputies and the invited guests.
Olexander Moroz recommended that the People's Deputies should, prior to taking up their appointment, swear the Oath before The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, pursuant to Article 79 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
The Text of the Oath was read by the elder statesman of the People's Deputies Ivan Herasymov.
The spiritual hymn of Ukraine 'Prayer for Ukraine' was sung by The H.Veriovka National Academic Folk Choir.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 5th Convocation Olexander Moroz, presiding at the Meeting, announced that the People's Deputies should inscribe their signatures below the Oath text, and two hours were allocated for this purpose. He invited the newly-elected People's Deputies to sign the Oath text.
Following this, the Ceremonial Meeting was closed.
