The extraordinary sitting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the ninth convocation.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov opened the second special meeting of parliament.

The presiding officer clued up that the event has been convened on demand of 156 MPs.

  • Agenda

In its ongoing agenda the Verkhovna Rada has included the draft VRU resolution No.3319 “On approval of proposals on extended application for personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”.

  • Grounds

It was underlined that this May sees the end of the run of validity for sanctions against legal entities and individuals linked with the Russian Federation, legitimately imposed by the President of Ukraine and the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine in 2017. These measures include, in particular, a nationwide ban on access to such resources and their services as ‘mail.ru’, ‘vk.com’ and ‘ok.ru’ (“Mail.ru”, “VKontakte” and “Odnoklassniki”).

This way, the document stipulates for the extension of application of the said sanctions.

On extended round of sanctions: Draft resolution No.3319

Following the discussion, the draft resolution No.3319 “On approval of proposals on extended application for personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)” was enacted by 248 parliamentarians through taking it on both readings.

 

The presiding officer closed the second extraordinary meeting.
