• The Government and the Ministry of Health should immediately launch production of domestic PCR tests at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, -- Olena Kondratiuk

The Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk feels anxiety about the situation with the production of domestic PCR test systems designed to detect COVID-19, and calls on the Government to take immediate measures to rectify this.

"Valuable time is being lost day by day, and as far as I know, the Government has not yet funded the production of domestic PCR tests capable of detecting that infamous coronavirus," O. Kondratiuk asserted.

“The bureaucracy is terrible and ever-present. It would seem that they designedly delay the launch of Ukrainian tests, which are cheaper than foreign analogues.  And I’ve got thus a question - in whose interest? Where, bejesus, is this mass-testing that is so necessary for a gradual exit from quarantine?” she added. According to the vice speaker, the new head of the Ministry of Health Maksym Stepanov should render the account at the extraordinary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada slated for May 12.

The politician calls on the Government and the Ministry of Health to immediately initiate production of domestic PCR tests at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and to provide the necessary funding from the Anti-Coronavirus Fund.

"It’s well worth doing in order to help the country cope more easily and faster with the COVID-19 menace, without unnecessary spending of taxpayers' money, through the mass-testing, which is constantly written of and called for by all experts," the vice speaker of the Verkhovna Rada is convinced.
