Only cleansing and renewal of authority establishes the basis for real changes that the society is waiting for. Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov claimed this in the interview to 24 News TV channel on Wednesday.

According to him, lustration process has already begun – “the Prime Minister has announced dismissal of lots of persons from very responsible posts.”

“It goes about high-ranking officials and deputy ministers, those who have been constantly changing party colors and were remaining on their posts not due to high professional level but due to mimicry to any political environment,” explained Chairperson of the Parliament, stressing that those promoting Ukraine’s transformation into a totalitarian regime cannot work, since it is dangerous.

“Today it is impossible to talk about the renewal of Ukraine without cleansing the authority. That is why the Government has initiated a very serious staffing reform,” he added.

Oleksandr Turchynov stressed that soon lots of vacancies will arise both in the center and in the regions. “Today we address first of all the youth. We need experts with qualitative education, convictions and patriotic views,” he said, adding that it is extremely important that “young politicians do not transform into old corrupt officials.”

Therefore it is that important, noted Chairperson of the Parliament, that anti-corruption legislation started working: “It includes tough requirements regarding the work of officials.” “As soon as these laws start working, there will be not that much willing to become officials,” he said, explaining that in this case not only income of officials and their families will be under full control, but also their expenditures.

“This is the range of tasks we started implementing that should yield the result – a democratic European Ukraine,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, having reminded that the Government has elaborated triennial reform programme implementation of which will allow our country “to become the EU member within this short time period.”
