There are //// bodies in focus of our committee scan this week:

 

Committee on Budget

In the coming 9th session, the committee shall primarily focus its work on considering a draft 2019 state budget and addressing the bills aimed to amend the 2018 state budget document in force.

In line with the governing law, the committee has approved its ninth session operation plan (September 2018-January 2019) prior to the session’s off.

The plan provides for reviewing the 2019 state budget law, and treating of twenty-three draft bills intended to amend the 2018 state budget law currently in force alongside 109 bills concerning the Budget Code of Ukraine still under debate as of the end of the 8th session.

 

Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy

The committee has taken stock of its work during the 8th session of the eighth convocation Parliament.

Thirteen sittings covering thirty-nine issues have been held within the round.

The body triggered off holding on April 20th a wide roundtable dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the first auditing activities law under a large attendance of over 150 conferees from the Parliament, the Presidential Administration, central executive bodies, non-government organizations, business associations, auditing firms, international experts and scientists.

Thirty-three commented conclusions have been tabled up for consideration by the Parliament. There have also been reviewed 828 letters and applications, and organized 35 roundtables and task meetings.

Within the plenary round, the committee had also submitted up eleven laws which were then taken by the Parliament, with 62 committee-commented draft bills that still are under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. During the session, there have been considered 182 draft bills which the committee was set to be in charge of.

In the coming session, the body shall focus its activity on 601 draft bills to be studied. For more details please refer to:

Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety

The acting committee head held a meeting with representatives of the USAID ‘Energy Market Development’ Project, implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The presider discussed with the project experts the issue of supporting the development of Ukraine’s energy markets and the implementation of the law of Ukraine "On Electricity Market".

During the meeting, there were also discussed the prospects of renewable energy development in Ukraine and the need to introduce a new system of supporting this industry.

As USAID’s support and the use of best global practices in reforming the energy markets are very important for the committee’s work, there have also been framed the key directions of further cooperation with the project during the meeting.


Committee on Environmental Policy, Nature Resources Utilization and Elimination of the Consequences of Chornobyl Catastrophe

On progress in 2017 implementation of the National target programme for water management development and ecological recovery of the Dnipro (Dnieper) River Basin

The committee monitors the progress in implementing the programme approved in 2012.

The purpose of the programme is to determine the main directions of the state policy in the field of water management in order to meet the needs of the population and the national economy in water resources, preservation and reproduction of water resources, implementation of the integrated water resources management system on the basin-oriented principle, restoration of the role of reclaimed lands in food and resource provision of the state, optimization of water consumption, prevention and elimination of harmful effects of water.

The above-mentioned programme is designed for nine years of systematic implementation of the state policy regarding sustainable innovation and investment development of the water management involving the state, regions and private business resources, directing them towards a  marked jump in efficiency of state water resources management, their use and protection.
