Dear compatriots,

Today, December 1, we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the All-Ukrainian Referendum of 1991. That was a fundamental milestone for the Ukraine's statehood as that day the Ukrainian people expressed their desire to restore Ukraine's independence.

On December 1, 1991, the Ukrainians were asked either to confirm of reject the Act of Declaration of Ukraine's Independence. Over 90% of citizens, who took part in the referendum that day, supported the idea.

The Ukrainian referendum of December 1, 1991 was a burial of the "Empire of Evil" — the Soviet Union. At the same time, the referendum became a logical extension of a millennia-long history of the Ukrainian state.

This day I call on all compatriots to think of the fact that our independence and our future depends on us all.

The victory will be ours!

Glory to Ukraine!
