Ratification of the Agreement with Latvian Republic, that became a member of European Union in May 2004, will enable to render effective and opportune mutual assistance, perform exchange of information and modern technologies in order to prevent extraordinary situations, and, in case of their occurrence, to effectively and orderly settle the issues of overcoming their aftermath on the interstate level.  

The statements regarding methods of rendering assistance are basic in the Agreement. The Document also determines competent communication bodies and centers, requests on assistance and information exchange, coordination and management of rendering assistance in case of extraordinary situation occurrence, procedure of crossing State border and residence order of assisting groups and/or experts, import, export and transit of assistance equipment and goods, exploitation of air vessels, compensation of losses and damage, settlement of disputes, amendments to the Agreement.
