Responding to the question whether Mariupol, Donetsk airport, Shchastia and Debaltseve will remain Ukrainian, Oleksandr Turchynov claimed that: “Certainly. I deem there should be no token money. The territory that we control cannot be transferred to the Russian troops under no pretence. The citizens of Ukraine live there and it is our direct duty to protect them.”
At the same time, he stressed that the whole territory that is currently under the control of terrorists and Russian occupants “should be eventually cleansed of them.” “We should talk not about enlargement of that zone but rather about its re-zeroing. This is our task,” added the Chairperson of the Parliament.
Oleksandr Turchynov underlined that the time period when there is no full-scale war should be used to strengthen country’s defense capacity, as well as restore and augment our military potential. “This is the only way to avoid being dictated the scope of the special zone,” he said.
“If we talk about peace format, then our standing should be clear and univocal: Ukrainian laws should be in force on the entire Donbas territory! Those trying to establish criminal enclave on the territory of our country should be arrested and in case of resistance - liquidated. There is no alternative,” claimed Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
