On December 12, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parliaments
The deed was inked within the chairman’s ongoing 4-day official visit to Seoul, South Korea.
Welcoming the Ukrainian politician, the Korean speaker noted that “this visit of the Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament shall foster closer cooperation between our countries”.
The сhairman, in his turn, noted that this is his first visit to Korea. "I am enchanted with the beauty of Korea, its history and its modernity," he said. Andriy Parubiy thanked South Korea for the support of Ukraine and its state sovereignty against the backdrop of the Russian aggression.
The head of parliament informed his Korean colleagues about the ongoing Russian aggression and the capture of Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait. Andriy Parubiy handed over to Moon Hee-sang the recent Ukrainian parliament’s appeal concerning the Russian aggression in the Kerch Strait, adopted by the parliament on November 26, 2018.
Andriy Parubiy called on the Speaker of the Parliament of Korea and Korean parliamentarians to introduce a visa-free regime with Ukraine, referring to the fact that "for twelve years, Korean citizens have enjoyed visiting Ukraine without visas".
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on Korean businesses to come into the Ukrainian market with wide investments. In particular, the most promising sectors of the economy for Ukrainian-Korean cooperation were named to be the IT and agrarian ones.
Andriy Parubiy invited the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang to visit Ukraine officially.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and the Korean National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ukrainian and Korean parliaments.
