“The current plenary week’s plans embrace draft amendments to the Constitution, abolition of parliamentary immunity, renewal of the Central Election Commission and hearing on the presidential annual address to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” – Andriy Parubiy
This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A.Parubiy at the beginning of the Conciliation Board meeting on Monday.
According to him, this week’s Thursday shall see consideration of submitting the bill No.9037 up to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. The bill is designed to legitimate Ukraine’s strategic heading towards the EU and NATO constitutionally.
The plenary schedule also provides for reviewing the bills on abolition of parliamentary immunity and renaming Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts (regions) in pursuance of the law of Ukraine on de-communization.
The head of the parliament stressed that upon consultations within the factions, the parliamentary majority "agreed with the need to legitimate Ukraine’s aspirations for accession to NATO and the EU at a constitutional level”.
A.Parubiy stated that the Parliament is already in receipt of the Constitutional Court's conclusions regarding the bills proposing to cancel the parliamentary privilege.
The Chair is also “quite resolute in his opinion” that the bench of the Central Election Commission should be well refreshed; the intra-faction debates on the issue have been agreed upon to be soon conducted with the view of further wide floor discussions.
On Thursday, there will also be heard the President’s annual address to the Parliament about Ukraine’s internal and external state of affairs in 2018.
It is expected that this week’s Friday will be assigned for a draft 2019 state budget presentation prepared by the ministers.
