“A stable Verkhovna Rada implies a stable Ukraine,” – A.Parubiy while closing the 8th plenary session of the Parliament

“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is fully competent to take the laws the people are waiting for”. This was stressed by the Chairman on Friday when closing the work of the current plenary session of the Parliament. "Everyone who called the Parliament to be inoperative has today seen the potential of the Verkhovna Rada elected after the Maidan - the one that gives heed to people, and the Parliament, which well operates in a belligerent country," added he.

“We had to pass the anticorruption court law, the law on national security, to settle the personnel issues, and to implement the plan of actions elaborated within the framework of the EU Association Agreement,” reminded the Chairman of the Parliament.

“With dead certainty, we can say today that the Supreme Anticorruption Court was created at this hall, at this Parliament; adopted also there had been a large-scale national security law, which then triggered off a chain of reforms throughout the security sector. The latter was approved taking into account all the recommendations rendered by NATO, thus having made a great stride of Ukraine towards the North Atlantic Alliance," he emphasized.

A.Parubiy stressed that the current Parliament had well finalized the personnel issues for the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, and the long-troubled issue of the Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also highlighted that a new Central Election Commission’s bench should be the first issue to debate in the next autumn plenary session.

A.Parubiy remarked that the Verkhovna Rada had passed nearly twenty laws necessary for implementing the EU Association Agreement and ensuring Ukraine's cooperation with the European Union.

The Parliament has been very active internationally. Among the global accomplishments therein there have been mentioned the creation of the Ukraine-Georgia-Moldova Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, a powerful parliamentary instrument within the Baltic-Black Sea rim countries; the utterly fruitful five-speaker – Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia – high-level visit to Washington that did then ensure the US Congress’s great support to the East European countries as the shield for the whole of Europe against the Russian aggression.

It has been also pointed out the session adopted 88 laws, 49 of which being of first reading; 37 resolutions have been approved within the plenary span - all together totaling some 150 positive parliamentary decisions.

The head of the Parliament thanked all factions and non-factional members of parliament, both for their criticism and for the great energy in making decisions in the Parliament's work. He also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation to the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister and the entire body of the Government. He even called the said cooperation “unique” that might, according to him, exemplify the desirable level of interagency connections in the run-up to the election year.

“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was, is and should be the pillar of stability here. Believe me, a stable Rada shall produce a stable Ukraine,” underlined the Chairperson of the Parliament.

The Parliament’s Speaker Andriy Parubiy observed that the enemy wanted to destroy and destabilize the Verkhovna Rada for its being the most opened governmental body and, thence, perhaps, the most vulnerable.

In his opinion, it is extremely important to hear the people outside the walls and remember the responsibility assumed.

A.Parubiy did assure that the Verkhovna Rada would be able to work efficiently both in autumn and spring, as well as the next autumn for the sake of Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens.

"This is our responsibility and our duty," accentuated the Chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament.
