The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy held a meeting with A.Wess Mitchell, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

At the start of the meeting, the Chairman congratulated Wess Mitchell on his appointment as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.

“It has been of importance to me to visit Ukraine just after taking the office since the Secretary of State Rex W.Tillerson tends to focus attention over the issue of security and reforms in Ukraine,” stated Wess Mitchell.

Andriy Parubiy called on the U.S. Department of State to study the possibility of rendering Ukraine the defensive lethal weapons.

The parties then talked over the progress of reforms in Ukraine and boosting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

“I am prepared to assure you the overwhelming majority of parliamentary members of the current Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supports the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine as well as the close collaboration with the United States of America and the European Union, contributing by so doing to the reforms in Ukraine,” resumed Andriy Parubiy.
