A.Parubiy:  No political confrontation will prevent us from considering and taking decisions on bills that are on the agenda

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A.Parubiy believes that this week Parliament has a chance to complete the review and make decisions on judicial, medical and pension reforms – “the landmark documents. He emphasized this while opening the meeting of the Conciliation Board on Monday.

“Last week, we began the review of reforms, and I believe that our first day, when we considered educational reform, was a success. We were able to find compromise solutions to those provisions that generated a discussion in society. The statements suggested by the Government were supported. This is a good example of how the Verkhovna Rada demonstrated its ability to go through the most difficult discussions and make compromise, optimal solutions”, underscored A.Parubiy.

The Chairperson of the Parliament noted that "the discussions that are taking place around the adopted law on education are more of a speculative nature, because the law provides for the protection of the state language and does not humiliate the languages of national minorities and indigenous people in any way".

A.Parubiy reminded that the Parliament began to consider the bill on judicial reform – “4383 amendments must be considered, seven hundred of which have been considered”. “I encourage MPs and the Committees to work even more efficiently this week, as there are a lot of laws on the agenda, - said the Speaker of the Parliament. I think this week we have a chance to complete the judicial reform”.

A.Parubiy also stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should “begin to consider and take a decision on pension reform”. He recalled that the pension reform is “one of the requirements of our cooperation with the IMF, and therefore we have no right to delay it for the next week”. According to the Chair of the Parliament, “it is also necessary to proceed in considering medical reform as soon as possible”.

“These are global reforms, they relate to everyone's life, and I am sure most members of parliament understand responsibility for work on these bills”, said A.Parubiy.

“According to the law, the draft State Budget for 2018 was submitted to the Parliament. I will say without exaggeration, this is a draft budget for security and defense, and significant amounts are allocated for the support of the Ukrainian Army and the security sector”, said A.Parubiy. He informed that the draft financial document had already been published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to him, the presentation of the draft State Budget will possibly take place this Friday.

“I hope no political confrontation would prevent us from considering and taking decisions on the bills that are on the agenda”, - emphasized the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

A.Parubiy sadly remembered the tragedy that occurred the night before Saturday - the fire and death of the children of the children's camp. “Unfortunately, what happened was an example of culpable negligence, when the fire alarm did not work, and the fire reservoir was empty,” he said, urging the members of parliament to take part in the investigation, in order to avoid same in future. The Chairperson of the Parliament expressed condolences to the relatives who lost their children in the fire.
