Verkhovna Rada's Capacity building, enhancement of the role and meaning of the Parliament is one of the most important reforms for Ukraine today, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, said opening the Parliaments and Comprehensive Democratic Reform forum.

Respective high-level discussion was organized within the framework of the European Union - UN Development Programme's Project Rada for Europe.

The participants in the forum are inter alia Assistant United Nations Secretary-General Cihan Sultanoglu and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that currently Ukraine has to implement reforms in all spheres of life despite its fight against the aggression of the Russian Federation, which complicates and at the same time, makes those reforms more important. He noted that there are a lot of directions in reformation of the Ukrainian Parliament: Secretariat reform, openness reform, Verkhovna Rada reform, etc.

Andriy Parubiy reminded that new participants in the Conciliatory Council meetings are civil experts able to express their vision and proposals touching the agenda and priorities in work of the Verkhovna Rada.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that currently all deputy requests are open for the society and that structuring of the parliamentary work through drafting agenda topically allows raising efficiency of work on different bills.

Andriy Parubiy said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine works effectively despite all the predictions of those, who believed that the crisis will ruin current Parliament.

He said that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine intends to work hard to make reforms more effective.
