On Wednesday, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andriy Parubiy, met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Lee Yang-goo.
"We consider the Republic of Korea one of our important partners and are ready to develop comprehensive cooperation with it," Parubiy said at the beginning of the meeting.
He called permanent top- and high-level political dialogue between Ukraine and South Korea an important instrument facilitating further deepening of cooperation in all sectors. Andriy Parubiy expressed Ukraine's interest in supporting political relations with South Korea.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted traditionally active interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries both in political and trade-economic sectors. He thanked the Government of South Korea for humanitarian assistance and funds allocated in 2014 and 2015.
Andriy Parubiy stressed that Ukraine and South Korea have considerable potential for further development of their relations especially in the fields of economy and high technologies.
In turn, Mr. Lee Yang-goo emphasized that the SAMSUNG company has employed about 1,000 Ukrainian specialists and highly appreciates their talent and skills.
The Ambassador said his country is interested in development of cooperation and partnership with Ukraine and expressed hope that the two countries will use their potential effectively.
Besides, Mr. Ambassador said that South Korea is committed to supporting sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Andriy Parubiy thanked for understanding of the security situation in Ukraine and added that Ukraine condemns provocative actions of the authorities of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The sides also discussed cooperation in humanitarian sector.
