There has been completed the next stage of the English language training courses for the Parliament’s staff within the framework of the implementation of the NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Programme DPD at the NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in Ukraine.

In a concluding speech, there was stated that under conditions of implementing reforms in our country, constant challenges and changes, European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the standards of the European Union, the administrative staff ought to constantly and systematically improve the level of knowledge, skills and abilities and, of course, increase its English language proficiency.

Particular heed was also given to the effectiveness and efficiency of the training courses held. Specifically, they have succeeded in improving the level of English language knowledge of a significant number of employees who implement the relevant reforms, work on draft laws, prepare draft legal and expert opinions for them, elucidate information on the Ukrainian parliament’s activities, and are responsible for international activity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Ove Urup-Madsen, Manager of the NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Programme (PDP), familiarized the trainees with the aim of the Programme, the work carried out in the framework of its implementation and aimed at supporting reforms, promoting the professional competence of specialists of state authorities of Ukraine, including the administrative staff of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

O.Masyk, Project Manager of the NATO-Ukraine Professional Development Programme (PDP), spoke of the projects that are being realized within the Programme’s remit.

The head of the Parliament’s Information Department S.Horiachev and the manager of the Press Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine O.Derkach pointed out that the knowledge obtained is used by the staff at making referential, informational and analytical materials, in business trips and study visits abroad, participation in international workshops and conferences, in business correspondence and working meetings with foreign colleagues.

128 employees who had successfully completed the training course received certificates.

During the event, there was presented the first English-language booklet about the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
