The head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko held a meeting with Laura Cooper, the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of USA
Alongside Ukraine’s ambassador Valerii Chalyi, Hanna Hopko discussed with L.Cooper further bilateral defence and security cooperation.
Laura Cooper highly appreciated the law of Ukraine "On national security of Ukraine" recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In her opinion, it has become a very important step towards deepening military and technical cooperation between the two states. At the same time, the importance of further liberalizing the defense procurement system and continuing reforms in the security and defense sector were emphasized.
The Pentagon’s representative offered assurances regarding the approaches the United States adhere towards Ukraine, having stressed that the point had been discussed at length during the NATO summit in Brussels.
