The exhibition of photographs “On both sides of the Buh” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the operation “Visla” was opened in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

An exhibition of photographs “On both sides of the Buh” of Polish photographer Piotr Durak was opened in the Verkhovna Rada. It is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the operation “Visla”. The exposition contains photographs of destroyed Greek and Catholic churches and Roman and Catholic churches, symbolically separated by the river Buh, and were on the verge of destruction. The exhibition is the result of numerous trips to Poland and Ukraine, during which the photographer managed to reach abandoned shrines. The author shows the interiors of churches in which today no more worship services are held and which are not assigned to any museums.

“In fact, the operation “Visla” is a tragedy not only of Ukraine, it is a tragedy of two nations. This exhibition shows that the churches remained lonely, without prayer, without care ... And it seems to me that if we talk more about it, then there will be more understanding of this”, said Oksana Yurynets, a Ukrainian member of parliament, at the opening of the exhibition.

The researchers of the Historical and Local History Museum of the town Vynnyky participated in the opening of the exhibition, where the presentation of the exhibition of photographs "On both sides of the Buh" took place.

The exhibition is located on the margins of the third floor and may be visited from 19 to 22 September.
