Four committees are today in focus:

Committee on Social Policy, Employment and Pension Provision

The committee supports the Cabinet’s initiative to ‘modernize’ the scale of pension. The novelty to be approved under the draft bill No.6614 would allow the government to increase the pension scale for 5,6 mln citizens. The average per capita rise might constitute some 700 hryvnias. The draft bill provides for recalculation of pension from October 1th. The committee also prepared some technical recommendations to be introduced in the draft bill on the first reading.

Committee on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship

…recommends the Parliament to support the presidential proposal over ferrous metals scrap. It is proposed to set the export duty at EUR 30 per ton for two years instead of the previously agreed three years. The committee approved this amendment reluctantly.

Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations

…considered the draft bill No.6049-1 refining the use of agricultural lands, collective ownership of lands, prevention of raiding, stimulation of irrigation. The bill provides for trouble shooting at agricultural lands fragmentation, stimulation of irrigation, in the use of lands under field roads and forest belts (forest shelter-belts) etc. A mechanism for transferring lands from collective ownership to communal ownership is also provided for. The committee has approved the bill with some amendmentsб and recommends the Parliament to accept it on the first reading.

Committee on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship

…held a seminar “The Japanese Breakthrough in Economy: Object Lessons to Ukraine”. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Association for the Club of Rome. One of the powerful tools capable of uplifting the economic situation in Ukraine was said to be a state bank for development. The institution is not to be entitled to conduct commercial activities. Japan might render the appropriate consulting assistance and supervision. The relevant recommendations will be sent to the Ukrainian Cabinet.
