The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko with the Head of the Committee on European Integration Mariia Ionova in harness, have joined a recent presidential working tour to the Donbas

On October 22, Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Presidential envoy on peaceful settlement of the Donetsk-Luhansk clash, together with Mariia Ionova, the Head of the Committee on European Integration, teamed up the presidential working visit to Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast.

During the visit headed by the Commander in Chief, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, there was an ample debate over the ongoing posture in the east of Ukraine, attended by the top brass of the region including the Minister of Defence and a range of serving military officers.

The Commander in Chief Petro Poroshenko expressed his gratitude to the servicemen of the 72th, 14th, 92th and 53th mechanized brigades for their striking state defence tasks performance. “You are the pledge of our state sovereignty. You have justified the people’s trust today. You are those whom the enemy is afraid of,” underscored the President of Ukraine.

In the course of the victory ceremony, the Commander in Chief Petro Poroshenko handed over a set of awarding bonuses to the best-performance servicemen for their valuable contribution in strengthening the state defences, bravery, selflessness and dexterity displayed in action, and presented 31 soldiers with government awards.

During the visit, Iryna Herashchenko, the First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Presidential envoy on peaceful settlement of the Donetsk-Luhansk clash, and Mariia Ionova, the Head of the Committee on European Integration had too talks with servicemen of the 72th mechanized brigade, which is under their patronage and assistance.

The President and the MPs had also a brief meeting with Avdiivka people.
